Toledo is generally known as a city driven by manufacturing. General Motors, Ford, and Daimler-Chrysler all have major factories in the city.Toledo is also home to two Fortune 500 companies, the Dana Corporation and Owens Corning. The University of Toledo has recently overtaken Jeep as its biggest employer.
Recently, General Motors Corp. recently announced it will invest $332 million in the Toledo factory on Alexis Road to add production of more fuel-efficient front-wheel-drive transmissions. Located just a short drive away from the Detroit, the Motorcity, it is no surprise that Toledo mimicks Detroit's industry, and its blue collar attitude, giving it the look and feel of a hard working city. |
