Preparing For Your Future

There are many reasons to move to Toledo, Ohio. Some people come to the city to be closer to family. Some retire to their childhood home. Others arrive looking for a job. And still others come in search of an education. Post secondary schooling is important to have on your resume, even if it's just a single English course. Toronto isn't the only place you can get it, either. Toledo has a variety of post secondary schools where you can train for a good career. Here are some of the best in the city.

Bowling Green State University

Though technically located in the suburb of Bowling Green, about twenty miles from the city center, Bowling Green State University is attended by many students from Toledo. BGSU houses a School of Communication Studies, where students can learn forensics or how to structure PPC campaigns, and a College of Education, which trains teachers. There are also over 200 undergrad programs to choose from in six disciplines, and their sports team, the Falcons, play in NCAA Division I.

University of Toledo

If you're looking for a school more centered upon scientific research (SRED), then the University of Toledo is the obvious choice. Their doctoral programs do extensive research and their academic programs have received national attention. There are 250 programs in 10 schools and their sports teams play in the NCAA Division I as well. It's a public university with over 2,000 staff and nearly 24,000 students.

Medical College of Ohio

If you want a career in medicine, don't settle for apprenticing at a London, Ontario vet clinic. Come to Toledo and train to be a doctor or nurse. The Medical College of Ohio, which is part of the University of Toledo, has four colleges for medicine, nursing, health science and graduate studies, as well as three affiliated teaching hospitals. Two of the hospitals specialize in rehabilitation and psychiatric care. There are over 2,000 students in total across the four colleges.

Owens Community College

If you're not quite ready for university you can take a college transfer program at the Owens Community College, or if you're thinking of taking a trade or career training program like food and beverage marketing, Owens has over 130 courses on offer. They're known for small class sizes and their history of glass working as well as the new Emergency Preparedness program. They also have teams competing in six different sports.
